The depletion of the earth's ozone layer has brought about the need for stopping the use of CFC gases including R12. (R12 is an ozone depleting gas used in car air conditioners). The most commonly used replacement gas is R134A, however a standard retrofit is required for efficient and reliable operation. The cost of retrofitting varies depending on type of vehicle. A standard retrofit as described above is approximately $220.
