Heater Repairs
A Heater Core is like
a cars radiator but smaller and the same coolant passes through its thin
tubes. These tubes may block if rust or corrosion is present in the
cooling system.
A good quality coolant/rust inhibitor as well as flushing the Heater
Core when coolant is changed is recommended every 2 years. Always refer
to manufacturers’ recommendations.
This will maximise the life expectancy of the Heater Core and help
maintain trouble free operation.
If you experience poor heating or the car heater takes a long time to
start working you may have a blocked Heater Core. If however you have
water appearing on the carpet or the windscreen is constantly fogging up
and won’t clear you probably have a leaking Heater Core which must be
repaired or replaced. This normally involves removing the whole
dashboard, depending on make and model of vehicle.
